Many people don’t know whether their car insurance policy has uninsured motorist coverage, and some don’t even know to ask. Too often, drivers try to save a few dollars a month by not opting-in, but that's not in their best interests. Here at Darr Schackow Insurance, we understand the importance of having the right car insurance and are here to help you get that coverage!
What is uninsured motorist coverage?
If the at-fault driver doesn’t have the proper insurance to cover the bodily injury damages, your own insurance company will cover the costs. Florida insurance companies are required to offer this extra coverage, but drivers are not required to purchase it.
Why is it so important?
It is estimated that one in five Florida drivers don’t have even the most basic (and required) personal injury protection (PIP) car insurance. Many of those drivers who do have PIP don't purchase coverage that would cover the other persons in a car wreck. Your chance of being involved in an accident with another driver who cannot pay necessary damages is relatively high.
How much does it cost?
Not as much as you would think. Sometimes, it can be as little as five extra dollars a month. Call Darr-Schackow Insurance at 352-338-0552 in Gainesville or 352-326-4007 in Leesburg for an official estimate.
